Pets [of sorts]

I love all the random markets and shops in Hong Kong.  Sometimes they are devoted to trinkets and junk, sometimes fruit and dried goods, and sometimes they just seem like the merchant found stuff on the side of the street and decided to sell it.  Occasionally, a stall will have an animal – a dog or cat – that is just there.  It doesn’t bother people, it is sleeping or just watching.  They don’t really friendly enough to lure you over to them, but not so unfriendly as to unnerve you.  There is a cat in Tai Po, who sits [sits, not lies] right at the door of the shop.  If you pet it, its little eyes roll back in joy, but then it returns to its stoic post of watching the bypassers on the street – seeming at the same time disinterested and enchanted.

I snapped this photo a little while ago.  This dog is always at this market, just hanging out.
