Today was a major day in portents and Babylonian numbers – a total eclipse of the sun lasting for six minutes. Unfortunately, I think I was in the wrong geographic locale to witness the full glory of the event. At the least, overcast clouds did their best to block my view. I wasn’t able to capture the iconic sickle image of darkness and light, but I did get some lovely images of the sun.
It was fun to see other people looking up at the sun through their viewers. The majority of people, however, just ran around not caring. I remember in sixth grade we made special toilet paper tube viewers. Not having that, I simply used the camera to capture glimpses. It was nice to be part of an exciting natural event.
In sadness though, I had this conversation online with a friend after the event:
friend: hey bry how have you been
me: good good. I just watched the eclipse.
friend: what is that, the twilight book?
